King of the Show – Imran’s GTI

 

Hello everyone, for today’s reading pleasure we have for you Imran’s beautiful Golf GTI! Some of you may already know this Golf, it’s no stranger to the car scene having attended most car shows in recent years. But for the rest who aren’t familiar with this little pocket rocket, stick around to find out.

 

Hey there Imran! Thanks for taking time out of your day to answer a few questions for us.

What is your current age?

21 at heart

 

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m probably the most sociable guy you will find. If I’m not working or eating – I’ll be out socializing with old and new friends. I also like to take long walks by myself to reflect on life and my goals. I also love EDM.

 

How long have you owned the car for? And how long have you been ‘building’ it for?

Golf – probably be coming up to 5 years easily. Build started after 6 months of ownership from what I remember.

 

Why did you choose the Golf platform?

I didn’t – it was an accident.

 

Why did you choose this specific car?

It was worth a challenge as at that time – there weren’t many European modified cars in the scene that was done tastefully- especially by a brown boy.

• HSP Tuning (known as HS Performance & Tuning)

• Custom front doors designed and installed by Camz Autosound and Security
• MK6 GTI DSG Gearknob + Handbrake Cover
• OEM Multi-function steering wheel controls added
• Digital Boost gauge
• Silver trim delete. Replaced with carbon fibre wrap.
• Custom floor mats
• All interior lighting replaced with blue LED.

Sounds

• Clarion VX605 head unit
• Door speaker: Hertz 6″ high end component series
• Sub: 3 Zeroflex 1000w 12″power subwoofer
• Amp: 2000w rms High power Digital mono block
• Custom boot installation.

Exterior:

• Carbon fibre bonnet and front lip
• Custom color tune in white from Custom Coatings Limited.
• MK5 R32 bumper upgrade and full 3inch CTS exhaust system.

Wheels/tyres:

• Work S1R 18 x 9.5 Gloss white centered Meisters wrapped on Nitto Invo high performance tyres (225/40/18).

Suspension:

• Airlift Performance Kit installed by Autostance.

 

 

What were your initial plans with the car versus where you are now?

It’s evolving till this day. The car has gone through lots of phases including a new look for 2021 that will be unveiled at Nationals this year.

 

What are some of the highlights/memorable moments you’ve had with the car?

Highlight would have to be the unveiling of the car at nationals when it was setup and wrapped like a US Marshall Car.

 

Are you looking forward to any shows this year? Wanting to aim for a specific award?

Yup – Nationals of course and will do some out of town events with the NZFC fam.

 

Are you wanting to compete in any specific race series such as drag wars, superlap, production series?

Not really – I wanted an all-rounder car with a wow factor and I think I’m pretty close to achieving that if I haven’t already.

 

 

Have you taken it on track? Whether it be Hampton or Meremere or whichever track. What were your times?

Yup it’s been on track but it’s not really setup for Drag so I’ve never paid any attention to time on it. It’s however pretty fun on the track with its pops and bangs.

 

What’s next for you and the car?

You will all see it at the end of this month.

How would you describe NZFC?

Solid group of people who support and care for one another- not only at car events but in general overall. I’m grateful and very lucky to be recognized as a prominent member of this club.
