Zamil’s DC5 Honda Integra Type R

Here at NZFC we are avid Honda lovers, they come different shapes and sizes. But the best one by the far has to be the Integra body, which is what we have for you today. Owner Zamil has taken time out of his busy day to answer some questions for us, so we get to know the car alittle more and how his interested peaked with this particular platform.

How did you end up with having a passion for cars?

Need for speed underground is where it started, building and playing with them was always really fun and its carried on from there.

Well it’s no secret Need For Speed sparked the interest of most, if not all the enthusiasts out there in world. it’s always fun to hear people taking their favorite car from within a video game and striving to attain it in the real world.

What is your history with cars?

I have owned around 10 cars. Started of in a Integra DC4 when i first started working and now have the DC5 and a Mitsubishi Evolution X.

10 cars? Impressive!

What made you pickup a DC5 as your racecar?

When i was in highschool, the car was owned by someone i knew. I loved that car since then and when i saw it come up for sale then i knew i had to buy it, going to trackdays to try out the car made me fall in love with it more and i have just been slowly building it since to be better on track.

Absolutely, i have seen this vehicle first hand going all out on the track sessions at events. It’s no slouch from what i’ve been told! Giving some Evos and Subarus a run for it’s money.

Is there any modifications on the car?

It’s got the basic mods like Skunk2 intake manifold, Injen cold air intake, 440cc injectors, fuel rail, headers down to a custom 3 inch exhaust.

So it looks like it doesn’t take much for this little naturally aspirated 4 banger to come alive! If you ever hear it on the track it sounds apart aswell.

Do you have anything planned for the future with the car?

To make it handle it alot better, and get a bit more power out of it.

If you know anything about Hondas it’s that they are basically go karts for the track! Drop the height, add some camber up front and you have a car that will run laps without breaking something.

Is there any event in the event calendar you’re looking forward to?

Looking forward to nationals to go out and enjoy with the club team.

Nationals is one of the most highly anticipated events for the year, it’s the one event where all the cars come out swinging, and it’s safe to say we do have some beautifully modified cars here in New Zealand.

Thanks Zamil for answering our questions! We look forward to seeing your car zipping around the track in the near future.
