Shoneel’s Voltex Evo 4FLEXN

Level Up

Photos by: Archee Lal

Well, where do we even begin to start. Shoneel has been with NZFC for as long as anyone can remember, it was just after he finished his first rendition of the Voltex Evo you see before you but back then it was still the factory red. Since then the cars gone through a number of appearance and plate changes too – it’s a hard to keep up at times but there’s nothing quite like what Shoneel has created. A mash up of genuine JDM parts ranging from subtle to extreme slice your leg off canard type parts. Sometimes I wish it would snow here in Auckland so we can put the Voltex front diffuser to work! In it’s current state it’s still under going the run in period with a humble 400+kW, after that’s complete and if all goes to plan you should see this thing at Chrome if not Club Fest!

Driver Profile:

  • Name: Shoneel Ram
  • Age: 31
  • What do you do in your spare time?: Don’t have the luxury of that lately but usually something involving cars or gaming.

How aggressive does it look? It’s mesmerizing

How long have you owned the car for? And how long have you been ‘building’ it for?
Owned for 7 years. First stage of evolution was 4 years into ownership. Final stage about 2 years.

How did you end up with this particular Evo?
I was always a fan of the CT9A chassis and the evo 7 was a good platform to modify. I had an evo 4 before and this was a logical step up.

If you have a keen eye you’ll see the changes made from different version of the Voltex Evo. Of course, the biggest being the colour Shoneel decided to have the vehicle wrapped since he won a Facebook competition of all things! You’ll see a few other mild changes, how many can you count?

What were your initial plans with the car versus where you are now?
Initially it was supposed to be a daily driver [LOL]. Evos however are meant to be modified so plans changed very quickly. [0 – 100 SUPER QUICK]

What are some of the highlights/memorable moments you’ve had with the car?
Most fun moments were taking it to Hampton downs, 2020 4&rotary nationals show and making the cover of the NZPC magazine.

If you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the cover for the March 2020 issue of NZPC. Making the cover of NZPC is something else, to most of us it’s a goal we all would love to accomplish. To be featured in New Zealand’s biggest (?) performance car magazine. Make sure to get yourself a copy so NZPC can live on forever for our future generations, support your local and support print!

Are you looking forward to any shows this year? Wanting to aim for a specific award?
Hopefully. Not looking to win any specific awards tbh. The feedback from people and hanging out with the boys is reward enough.

Are you wanting to compete in any specific race series such as drag wars, superlap, production series? (when answering just state “I’m looking to do…”  or something along the lines)
I’d be looking to do track days only at this stage. Nothing too serious yet plus I’ve got another distraction recently that keeps me occupied.

He’s talking about this, recently acquired a dream car of his! The holy grail 1999 R34 GTR V Spec *DROOOOOOLLLLL*

Have you taken it on track? Weather it be Hampton or Merememe or whatever track. What were your times?
Hampton downs but only at a cruise session.

What’s next for you and the car?
Hard to say in regards to the car. There’s a few things on my list (sequential box and full drive train overhaul) but I’m probably going to be focusing on other things for now.

Who would you like to thank?
NZFC , N S Spec Motorsports, SpeedFactor, Platinum Racing Products for advice, parts, tuning etc.

How would you describe NZFC?
A great bunch of guys. An excellent mix of different vehicles but a common goal of enjoying our cars as a family.
