Ryan’s Toyota MK3 Supra

Today we have for you another special gem, I personally already consider this a classic, but this is definitely a future classic.

This is no ordinary weekender/cruiser, this thing gets put through its paces on the track. Today Ryan is going to tell us about his Toyota MK3 Supra!

The Toyota Supra MK3 Supra, while many are more familiar with its younger brother the MK4. The MK4 got all the fame and attention, little bit of that shine went onto its older brothers.

How’d your passion for car begin?

High school when I got my licence, wanted to be seen driving a cool car as it was bit of ego boost. Got my first real project at age 17 and my first track experience by 18, got hooked from that first track day and haven’t looked back since.

What made you get a Supra?

Grew up with my whole family driving Toyota’s and it was love at first sight with the MK3 supra. At the time I brought mine, they were much more affordable. Honestly don’t know what else to say, it’s a Supra? Everybody loves and wants a Supra.

What are your plans for the car in the future and the modifications already done?

Now that I’ve got my hands on a second mk3 supra, I’ll make one built for the streets and one built for the track. Both will be 1uz V8 powered paired with a manual 5 speed gearbox built fairly similar to one another. The street car is getting a full restoration while the track car is getting ready for competition. Modifications already done is the basics, engine swap, wheels and coilovers, and I’ll continue to develop the car as I drive.

Walk us through the end goal with the supra?

There’s no real end goal, i just want to stay involved with car shows, meet ups and drift events. Keep the cars looking fresh and develop the car along with my driving. I’ll love to start daily driving my street supra again, and regularly drift the track supra at local competitions.

When are you 2j swapping it?

Simple answer is never haha.
The cars have to be built within my budget and 2j’s are just too expensive nowadays, Plus its good to do something different. 1uz V8’s are just more my thing, affordable, reliable and powerful.

When is the next time we can see the supra ripping around the track?

Very soon, my track supra is almost complete with its 1uz/manual conversion and i’m keen to show it off. I’ll be driving it 110% as i want to make a good impression with the car and hopefully pick up a sponsorship. Chrome at Hampton downs is one of my all time favorite events so you’ll most likely see me ripping up there.

While this Supra is definitely an eye catcher, you’ll catch it ripping around the track and the skid pan aswell! Ryan is not afraid of giving the thing hell on the track. One of the reasons that may be is because it is powered by a 1UZ Toyota V8, which has been proven to be super reliable, which I do not doubt, seeing that Toyota has an impressive history of making reliable vehicles. If you ever see him around the track I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to take you out as a passenger.

Well Ryan thanks for taking time out of your busy day to chat with us! I would look forward to seeing this thing ripping around the track.
